So you probably are wondering what the heck my being a senior and going back to school has anything to do with my story. Well for one thing, I have a bunch of filler classes and I chose them for the specific reason I thought they would be easy and help me write my books. Psychology is one and I feel as an author, if I have the knowledge of basic psychology I will be able to make my characters have better depth and make them more personable.
So now I gave you my school blurb. time for the serious talk. You may have noticed that I added a new character to my character page for New Generation (if not go to the characters tab at the top). Stephan Cole was simply just Stephan until about a week ago. At that point I decided I wanted his name to be Cole. I decided it wasn't a-- I don't know why I decided, I just did, but his name would stay Stephan (can you tell he is British? Or is he...) and just now I decided his last name would be Cole. Anyway, well I can't tell you why he became a larger character or you will know who he is. I had a moment when I suddenly realized someone was very important to me (not in the intimate boyfriend way) but that they were someone everyone should have in their life. Now I have tried writing people like Stephan (same title but different) and they didn't work. It felt unnatural and wrong. However, I had already developed Stephan and he was important to the story already, just not in the same way he is now. Stephan understands Alyx. He shares a bond with her and he is protective of her in a sense. I wrote him in book one, simply as someone at the door, checking names off the list for the party. However, as I wrote, or thought of more and more of the story, he became a bigger part, I never had an explanation for it. Now I do. but I won't tell you. You have to figure it out.
It will be really fun when I write the confrontation in the fourth book between he and Peter...
So back to school is upon us and I am really sad because that means it will be harder for me to work on my books. However, I always have to look around me when I'm at school and this being my senior year has opened my eyes I think...
